I am going to buy a dell inspiron 1520 and be curious which graphics card i should get. The 8600m gt is 100 dollars mroe than the 8400m gs is this worth it. I want to be capable of play most games decent and also directx 10 games clad as well. Just curious how big of a difference here is between the 8600m gt and 8400m gs.
laptop specs-
cpu-t7300 core 2 duo 2.0ghz
ram-2 gig ddr2 667
os-vista home premium.
8400m gs or 8600m gt?
dance bigger if you can afford it 8600m GT
There is a lot of difference between the 8400m gs and the 8600m gt. For one, the 8600 is much faster and more powerful and the nvidia ranking of performance go like this.
GT cards are better than GS cards. And collectively the higher the geforce number. The better the card. So the 8400m is a short time ago a GS and the 8600 is a GT of a later equals. And if you can wait or find the right laptop, you will know how to get the 8700m GT soon which is a bit better than the 8600m gt.
The 8600 is noticibally different to the 8400, and the price shows this clearly.
DirectX 10 games will singular dominate the gaming world in a couple of years, and by afterwards the graphics will be alot better that a 8400 will really struggle, and it can't play directX 10 games particularly in good health now.
If you deduce 8600 is a little too much, move about for the 8500, its alot cheaper. And may be what your looking for.
