Can i connect an external sturdy drive to a BTHomeHub via USB and use it on the net?

In short, No.

Buy a NAS (Network Attached Storage) housing from eBay and fit your own HDD.
Don't know more or less home hub, but Apple's Airport Extreme Basestation allows you to do this.

I think you can plug it into your HomeHub and plug a drive into the Airport.
You should be capable of, I have a IDE and a SATA strong drive in

cases that allow you to connect afterwards though USB2

These are available on Ebay I just search ide to usb and nearby are plenty

http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.d...

Remember set the drive as a stand alone master plug it in and it will be found as a USB bulk storage device. Wait till it's available the move about to control panel-admin tools-computer management-disk management, right click on the topical drive then on properties, choose the sharing tab and select sharing on the net and allow changing if you want.

Hope this answers the examine.
