Can I put an ATA/133 intricate drive contained by an Enhanced IDE hutch?

I enjoy an old 80GB external USB Western Digital easier said than done drive. I can peek within through the vent to read Enhanced IDE Hard Drive.

I just acquire a used 250GB Maxtor ATA/133 hard drive.

I don't know a intact lot about the compatibility. Will the strange drive effortlessly replace the old surrounded by the same crate? In other words, will the existing cabling system surrounded by the enclosure clash the new 250GB drive connector?

Enhanced IDE is another way of clich¨| ATA/100. As Stu said your drive will fit physically and there should not be a problem near connectors. The Maxtor should recognize the ATA/100 interface and tumble back to that speed to communicate with the coop. The firmware in the compound is a good issue also. You may want to check on Western Digital's network site to see if there is a firmware upgrade to approved larger capacity drives otherwise your 250Gb may solely report back as 80Gb.
It SHOULD, and it will physically fit, HOWEVER the firmware within the box MAY NOT recognise such a large drive if it be shipped as an 80.

best way to be sure, try it
