Badly stuck?

I've lately had one of those days where on earth i never want to see a computer again.

I'm trying to put together a second computer but cant get it to work,i built one earlier and as far as i know i did everything the same except some parts this time i pulled instead of buying unmarked.

What happens is it powers up ok,it counts the memory, detects the drives and afterwards just quits inert.i cant get to hand the bios because it wont get that far and it wont adopt any imput anyway.

I've tried everything i could think of,i've tried removing one piece of hardware at a time but still no bliss,

The only two option left is possibly the motherboatd is touching the case(??)or maybe i havent the front panel wired properly,i never know which is + or minus, one is coloured and one is white,is the white + or minus.

Any give a hand whatsoever would be appreciated.

Badly stuck?

Do you have the CPU warmth sink plugged in correctly. A computer 99.9% of the time wont start lacking recognizing a CPU warmness sink. Also, try removing a stick of RAM (if you have dual channel) and shuffle the slots it is surrounded by with the different sticks. Sometimes it is fruitless RAM that wont let it start. Check the power supply and get sure it is designed for the motherboard/processor/output you need/have. If you need 400 watts but your PSU is one and only rated for 350, it will shut bad. If you have an mATX mobo and the power supply is for ATX it wont boot. Also, if you enjoy one that is designed for P4 or lower (you said you salvage parts) then it wont boot if you hold a C2D or the like installed. Hope this help and I know what you mean never wanting to see a computer again
If your PC isnt Posting (BIOS), and you are not getting POST beep, your motherboard, or processor is not working.
