Ac97 nouns card?
Go to the website for the motherboard and receive the latest drivers for XP Pro and download them onto your desktop. If a fastener file create a folder on your desktop and upzip the zipfile into it. Try installing it from here. Another way is to click on the audio within your device manager turn to drivers tab and click update driver and point to your drivers on desktop or CD. Make sure its not set at digital contained by the audio GUI. If you were surrounded by CMOS and clicked load setup defaults travel back surrounded by and make sure onboard audio is enabled as some boards disable it by non-attendance. You can also try removing or uninstalling the audio in the device checker then rebooting. Windows should see unusual hardware and either install it automatically or ask for the drivers. If you hold the new drivers point to them. if point to the drivers on your motherboard CD. With AC97 I suggest you use the most modern drivers for your board as you will probably be able to inform a difference in nouns quality.
Good luck!
You should reload the driver stale the CD that come with the motherboard , and I would also check beneath Hardware Manager to see if any other hardware has be screwed up by the update.
Is your motherboard MSI brand? If so then achieve a real nouns card. I got a motherboard that's MSI and have to get an actual nouns card because I couldn't use my mic.
