I think you hold either a doomed to failure drive or a faulty IDE/SATA controller.
Suggest if you want to stockpile your data, move your unyielding disk to another computer and extract the data. This is for not working hard disk, logically u have to replace it after positive out your data.
If its the M/B specifically faulty, RMA it if it is still below warranty else replace it.
