When i try to install the software that comes beside the contoller the computer freezes, i've had to do a system restore to carry the computer working does anyone know for sure if its compatable. Man from maplins (shop of sale) said it was but its not on the box as Vista is so bright if i install the hardware the computer recongnises it but needs the software (drivers) to work. Please give a hand
ATA /133 Raid controller verse Vista?
First thing I would do is dance to the makers site and see if they hold an updated driver for Vista. Raid/SCSI is supported native to Vista. Make sure everything is set up to support it. Have you checked the BIOS settings as resourcefully?
White man from Maplins speak with forked tongue.
Remeber he is a salesman. If he be a computer expert he wouldn't be working at Maplins.
(Apologies to the few technically aware people that do work at Maplins out of choice)
Unless you first name the controller you have purchased nobody will be capable of tell you if it is compatible next to Vista. You could try installing it and let Vista find and install the drivers. If that does not work, try the manufacturer web site.
Before buying trial hardware, always stop by the manufacturers website to check for Vista compatibility.
That said, some cover the fact that they just support Vista32 and not Vista64. Others say the hardware isn't supported, but is^^;
It's a bit of a minefield at the moment, but most manufacturer are producing Vista drivers. BTW, did you try installing the Xp drivers? Some of these will work with vista, as long as they've be signed.
JBV^_^
Download the vista driver for it then it would work. zilch really works with vista but fools still dance for it.
